Renaissance String Quartet

Founded in 2021 by violinists Randall Goosby and Jeremiah Blacklow, violist Jameel Martin, and cellist Daniel Hass, the New York City-based Renaissance String Quartet is driven to reimagine the string quartet as a vehicle for change. Built on over a decade of friendship, the ensemble commands a diverse repertoire of classic, underrepresented, and new works to articulate an inclusive vision for the future of classical music. Currently serving as the 2026–2027 Quartet in Residence at Caramoor and Visiting Resident Artists at the Institute for Advanced Study, the RSQ performs internationally—from London's Queen Elizabeth Hall to community-building residencies in Jamaica—bringing dynamic performances to audiences worldwide.

OPEND Trio

OPEND is an experimental trio—featuring cellist Daniel Hass, electronic artist and percussionist Raimundo Atal, and poet Jameel Martin—that synthesizes acoustic free improvisation, real-time electronic manipulation, and live-composed spoken text. Functioning as a responsive, open laboratory, the ensemble builds immersive sonic landscapes from the ground up. Hass's foundational cello improvisations, which blend classical, jazz, and extended techniques, are instantly looped, transmuted, and expanded by Atal's digital processing and dynamic percussion. Simultaneously, Martin live-composes poetry as a direct reaction to the unfolding musical environment, utilizing the rhythm of his typing as a percussive counter-rhythm before voicing his text. Operating entirely beyond traditional genre borders, OPEND creates infinitely additive, self-referential worlds that bridge organic acoustic resonance, digital architecture, and spontaneous poetics.
